BUGOJNO OUT OF THE CHESS BOARD


The town of Bugojno is situated in the central part of Bosnia and Hercegovina.
Located in middle of Skopaljska valley and is on 590 meters above sea level.
Considering its geographic location as well as its natural resources,this town offers
very good conditions for the human settlemenrs.
Through the area,as it has been known,many roads that connect central Bosnia with
Hercegovina and Dubrovnik were built bv the llirs,Romans,Turks etc.
Today,this is developed town and including its beautiful nature is certainly one of the most
Beautiful towns in the entire state of Bosnia and Hercegovina.
The capital of BiH,city of Sarajevo is 130 kilometers away from Bugojno.

CHESS BUGOJNO

Chess in Bugojno has a very long and succesfull tradition.
As of 1951 organized aktivities in all categories take place in the town.
Nowadays,our club gather over 200 members.
Special interest in aktive chess playing is being shown by the youngsters.
Bugojno hosted the biggest chess tournaments in the entire history of this sport.
The first international tournement was held in 1978.
Karpov and Spaski took the highest positions at that time.
Later on tournaments were held in 1980,1982,and 1985.
Having in mind the above-mentioned facts,we wish to try organize another
tournament of the same kind.
Bugojno will receive the respectable names again in the same manner as always
Before.
We are determined to organize the biggest chess tournament so far in our country,
And with the contribution of sponsors tha twould take part in it,we can response
All possible challenges.
